Golf in Fife

Fife has more than 50 golf courses. The Old Course is the most famous, but some of the best golf in Scotland is a short drive from it, often at a fraction of the price.

Playing in St Andrews

The St Andrews Links courses are public, run by St Andrews Links Trust. Alongside the Old Course there are the New, Jubilee, Eden, Strathtyrum, Castle and Craigtoun courses, and the nine-hole Balgove, which is ideal for beginners and children.

Most visitors play the Old Course through the daily ballot, drawn 48 hours before play. The Old Course is closed to golf on Sundays, when anyone can walk the fairways.

Every home has space to dry the waterproofs, and most have a driveway or on-street parking for the clubs.
